Feeling down? Feel yourself!

Last night I had the pleasure of hosting Alyssa Kitt on my Facebook page to lead our community through a fabulous online workshop - Feeling Down? Feel Yourself!

This concept was something that I approached Alyssa about - not only as a way of keeping our sector engaged and employed during the COVID-19 pandemic - but to tap into her unique skill set.

Scheduling this post Easter holiday was pretty deliberate, because we know that often the holidays can be really stressful. If you are with your family it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes, especially if you are isolating together. If you are alone, even if you don’t celebrate Easter, it can be a bit lonely or you can feel a bit down.

So Alyssa took us all through a guided discussion and flow class, so that we can reconnect with our bodies and think about strategies to help us get a quick mood booster.

She’s also kindly shared a quick recap of her top tips for quickly feeling yourself and picking yourself up:

  1. Take three deep mindful breaths

  2. Stretch and engage the muscles

  3. Masturbate!

  4. Feel present and mindful in your body (strip and observe your body, practice tracing)

  5. Have a shower and make the bed

  6. Select clothes

  7. Move - walk, dance or stretch

  8. Set an intention about the things that bring you joy and that can help make you feel good.
