Classic Burlesque Course

Are you ready to unleash your inner burlesque queen?

Look no further! Starting on June 5th, a new classic burlesque course will be offered for those looking to learn the art of seduction through dance. This course is perfect for anyone who wants to explore their sensual side and gain confidence in their body.

With experienced instructor Grace Cherry you will learn the fundamentals of burlesque dance, including techniques for movement, posing and more!

But this isn't just any dance class. Burlesque is all about self-expression and having fun, so expect to let loose and embrace your playful side. You'll be encouraged to channel your inner diva and own the stage.

Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a beginner, this course is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all. Course outcomes:

  • A fun and sexy burlesque routine

  • Understanding of the cornerstone moves of burlesque (bumps, grinds, shimmies and the burlesque walk)

  • The opportunity to perform this routine at the Burlesque Showcase.

Are you looking for more strip in your burlesque striptease? Something more explicitly sexy?

Join Grace Cherry in this modern day striptease course. You can expect a modern soundtrack, with a focus on peeling and stripping off your layers with sexy grinds, tracing lines and body rolls.

Each week you will take these moves and work towards a super sexy routine - ready for the stage or just for that special someone!

Bring:

  • Items for your striptease: Robe, negligee and bra to practice stripping out of

  • Robe can be loaned

Advanced Feather Fan Dancing

This course will cover advanced techniques with a focus on turns, seamless transitions and presentation of your intricate fan movements.

You will learn how to incorporate these techniques into your own routines, giving you the ability to dazzle audiences with your newfound skills.

This course is perfect for those who are serious about their craft and want to take their skills to the next level.

It is recommended that you have completed at least two previous feather fan dancing courses and feel confident with the movements taught in previous terms.

 Act Development Course

 

Are you thinking of making a solo debut? Wanting to refine your burlesque routine?

Get the right guidance and support for your burlesque journey through this intimate mentoring opportunity.

Join Grace Cherry in this intensive act development course. This is a mentoring opportunity design to take your act from an idea to the stage, or to help you make sure your solo packs a WOW factor!

Working across individual intensive sessions and shorter group events, this program is designed to help you take an act from concept right up to stage.

Alternatively, you might be an emerging artist with an act that needs a bit of refinement and some support for your professional development.

During your journey, you will also build a peer support network with a small group of fellow performers. 

Through this program you will successfully perform a burlesque act to a live audience.  But more than a one off opportunity - this program helps you build a burlesque network and start your longer term burlesque practice - whether as a hobby or as a profession.

What does the course include?

  • x1 45- 60 minute online individual introduction session (booked by appointment)

  • x 1 group induction session online on Saturday 6 July at 12noon (TBC).

  • x 4 group coaching sessions with a focus on developing key skills you need for a professional solo debut:

    • Wednesday 7 August 7.45pm -9pm (theme: choreography and musicality)

    • Wednesday 14 August 7.45pm - 9pm (theme: striptease)

    • Wednesday 21 August 7.45pm - 9pm (theme: costuming and making a visual impression)

    • Wednesday 28 August 7.45pm - 9pm (theme: facial expressions and cultivating stillness)

  • x 1 in person coaching session (by appointment)

  • x 1 dress rehearsal on Sunday 17 November

Plus when you enrol you will also get:

  • Access to a private Facebook group for ongoing Q&A and troubleshooting

  • An original e-book by Grace Cherry full of tips and tricks

Take this rare opportunity to learn from Meanjin/Brisbane based performer Bonnie Rogue!

In this 90 minute workshop, Bonnie will focus on sharing her unique skills, through a slow and sultry floorwork routine, showcasing sensual techniques, smooth transitions and jaw dropping moves. 

Bonnie specialises in creating an environment where you will feel empowered by your sexual energy, connected with your body and honouring of your inner sacred slut.  

This workshop is suitable for all experience levels, whether you are dipping your toe into burlesque for the first time, or you already have experience with this sensual art.

Wear/Bring: Comfortable clothing, heels and kneepads (for comfort).

Please note the entrance to the studio has steep stairs. Contact Grace if any assistance can be provided on the day.

There will be an opportunity to film at the end of class for those interested.
