Classic Burlesque Course: The Art of Tease

Are you ready to unleash your inner burlesque queen?

This 6 week classic burlesque course will see you learn the art of seduction through dance. This course is perfect for anyone who wants to explore their sensual side and gain confidence in their body.

With experienced instructor Grace Cherry you will learn the fundamentals of burlesque including techniques for movement, posing and more!

This isn't just ANY dance class. Burlesque is all about self-expression and having fun, so expect to let loose and embrace your playful side. You'll be encouraged to channel your inner diva and own the stage.

Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a beginner, this course is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all.

For our October term we will be embracing the old school Hollywood glamour, with big band sounds to complement those bumps and grinds.

Wear and Bring:

  • Gym or yoga wear that you can move and bend in

  • Heels are optional (no anklebreakers please!)

  • The Classic Burlesque Course is $150 per person for 6 weeks.

Outcomes:

Back by popular demand! Get in losers - we’re learning burlesque!

Learn the art of tease, sass, strut, and character performance as you channel your inner Regina George and unapologetic Plastics-style diva. Across the course, you’ll build confidence, explore playful choreography while we learn a routine inspired by the iconic “Jingle Bell Rock” talent show.

Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned performer, this course is all about camp fun, embracing your confidence and remembering one very important rule: you don’t have to fit in to stand out.

Wear and Bring: Something you can move and dance in. Gloves provided

Slow and Sensual Burlesque Course

Sunday 18 October - Sunday 15 November

If you are looking to slow down and embrace your sensual side, this course is for you.

Over five 60 minute lessons, you will learn to slow down, take up space and build confidence. This course focuses on slow, graceful movements - while emphasising the essence of striptease.

Whether you’re completely new to burlesque or looking to deepen your movement practice, this course offers a space to slow down and learn controlled sensual movement.

You will put your newfound skills into a short routine that utilises classic burlesque panel skirt and gloves. All for maximum glamour, sensual style - but without all the impact.

Cost: $125 per person for this five week course.

Wear and Bring: Something you can move in. Panel skirts and gloves provided

Outcomes: You have the opportunity to perform this routine at the Burlesque Showcase on 5 December at Salamanca Arts Centre.

The final tease! Join Grace Cherry for gentle burlesque movement, stretch and reset.

Before the Christmas chaos kicks in, come along and take a bit of time for you. The Final Tease is our gentle, end of year burlesque get together - a chance to move, stretch, breathe and celebrate.

You’ll start the class with a fun, low impact burlesque dance workout - moving through some of our burlesque inspired movements to get the body moving and have some fun.

We will slow things down, wind the energy back and encourage your body into some gentle stretching, designed to ease tension in your hips, hamstrings and lower back.

We will cement the class with a guided meditation, letting you set intentions for the holiday season and leave the year behind,

No complicated choreography to learn. No performance pressure, No expectation to be flexible or fit. Think of it as an end of year exhale.

Wear and Bring:

Level up your stage presence from the ground up! Led by the unstoppable force Kelly Ann Doll, this 90-minute intermediate workshop is designed to refine your technical precision, speed, and fluid grace on stage. The workshop will cover:

  • The mechanics of high-impact, rapid footwork

  • How to build speed and precision without sacrificing control

  • Navigating complex spatial movement and fluid transitions

  • How to inject personality and flair into every step

Suitable for an intermediate level or confident movers looking to expand their dance vocabulary.

About your teacher:

Kelly Ann Doll is  Australia’s flame haired, burlesque powerhouse, known for her explosive energy, razor-sharp musicality, rapid fire footwork and unapologetic stage presence.

A multi-award-winning performer, Kelly Ann Doll has been lighting up burlesque stages around the world for almost 2 decades. In 2024 she represented Australia at the Burlesque Hall of Fame and in 2025 took out the coveted title of Miss Viva Las Vegas.

An introduction to one of burlesque's most timeless props — the boa.

Whether you're discovering burlesque for the first time or looking to refine your movement, this workshop explores the elegance and versatility of the boa through graceful movement, musicality and classic burlesque styling.

Explore flowing transitions, stage presence and expressive performance while learning a beautifully choreographed routine designed to build confidence both on and off the stage.

No previous dance experience is required.

About your teacher:

Yvette Santos is an international burlesque performer originally from Los Angeles, California, now based in Sydney, Australia. Crowned Miss Burlesque NSW 2024, she is known for her captivating fusion of Latin rhythm and classic burlesque glamour, bringing the heat, heart, and elegance of the golden showgirl era to modern stages around the world.

Wear and bring:

• A feather boa or tulle boa (a long scarf is also suitable). Or use one provided!

• Water bottle

Heels are encouraged but not essential. Wear clothing that allows you to move freely and feel confident.
