We offer a range of classes on different days and timeslots so that you have the chance to find an opportunity and a style of burlesque that suits you.

Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a complete beginner, all our classes offer a safe and inclusive space to explore the art of burlesque.

Classic Burlesque Course

Are you ready to unleash your inner burlesque queen?

This classic burlesque course will see you learn the art of seduction through dance. This course is perfect for anyone who wants to explore their sensual side and gain confidence in their body.

With experienced instructor Grace Cherry you will learn the fundamentals of burlesque including techniques for movement, posing and more!

This isn't just ANY dance class. Burlesque is all about self-expression and having fun, so expect to let loose and embrace your playful side. You'll be encouraged to channel your inner diva and own the stage.

Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a beginner, this course is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all. Course outcomes:

  • A fun and sexy burlesque routine to “Lady Marmalade”

  • Understanding of the cornerstone moves of burlesque (bumps, grinds, shimmies and the burlesque walk)

  • The opportunity to perform this routine at the Burlesque Showcase on 6 & 7 December 2025.

No experience is needed All levels of fitness, ages and shapes welcome.

Burlesque Feather Fan Dancing

Prima Ballet Academy | 105 Main Rd Moonah

Sunday 26 October 2025- Sunday 30 November 2025

5.30pm - 6.30pm

An ode to the original burlesque superstar, Sally Rand, this course will see you master the art of feather fan dancing.

Over 6 weeks you will learn foundation for feather fan dance poses, holds and transitions. You will be able to take these essential moves and learn a classic burlesque showgirl routine. At the end of the course you will be set to flutteryourself into a sultry fan-tastic extravaganza.

You have the option of performing with at our Burlesque Showcase on 6 & 7 December 2025.

If you are after a glamorous and low impact class this is the course for you!

Wear /Bring:

  • Something comfortable you can move in

  • Heels (no anklebreakers)

  • Feather fans

Cost is $120 per student or $150 to include loan of feather fans.

Burlesque Chair Dancing Course

Sunday 26 October - 30 November 2025

4pm - 5.15pm (75 minute class)

Unleash your inner cabaret superstar!


Over the course we will learn a combination of chair dancing tips and tricks - from back bends, to fan kicks and everything in between.

You’ll mix up these ‘showstopping’ tricks with some classing burlesque grinds and dips - learning how to take all your sexiest moves to the chair.

Each week we will work towards a progressive modern burlesque routine that can be performed on stage or just for that special someone.

While the class is designed to help you learn some new and impressive moves, it is a class for all levels of fitness, flexibility and ability. No experience is needed to join in! Modifications are encouraged for all movements.

Outcomes:

  • A super sexy burlesque chair dancing routine set to a modern soundtrack

  • The opportunity to perform this routine at the Burlesque Showcase on 6 & 7 December at Moonah Arts Centre

Pay what you can

Release, realign, and reconnect with your body in a workshop designed to melt away tightness in your hips and hamstrings.

Combining the flow of burlesque-inspired movement with yoga practice, this class will help you:

  • Ease tension and increase flexibility

  • Unlock hip mobility for more fluid dance and daily movement

  • Build strength and length in your hamstrings

  • Connect breath with body for a deeper stretch

No dance or yoga experience is needed—just bring curiosity, comfort, and a willingness to explore movement in a supportive and uplifting space.

Please bring a yoga mat if you have one.

Wear something you can move easily in.

This workshop runs on a pay-what-you-can model, making it accessible for all bodies and budgets. There will be a QR code and Pay ID options on the night, or payment via cash donation,

Adorn your Noggin! Headpiece workshop with Ida Ocean

Sunday 14 September at 10am-11.30am

$40 - $55 per person

Make a classic burlesque headpiece with guest teacher Ida Ocean!

Ida has over a decade of burlesque and costuming expertise to share, and will guide you through the process of making a classic fascinator with feathers or florals - all to make you feel extra special.

You don’t need to be a performer to join in this workshop. And you definitely don’t need a sewing machine or sewing skills. Whatever level you are at Ida will guide you through making a custom headpiece from start to fabulous finish.

Pricing:

  • $40 per person for Base Headpiece Kit + you provide any adornments (flowers, feathers, rhinestones, appliques or sequins)

  • $55 for the Classic Headpiece Kit (base and all accessories and adornments provided)

All other sewing supplies provided.

The class will be held in The Makers Workshop which has tea/coffee facilities - so you can have a cuppa, chat and craft all together.
